Derik Torres began his public accounting career in 2000 with 2 different internships small local firms while attending Lamar University in Beaumont Texas. After graduating with honors in 2002, he moved to the Dallas area where he worked at different public accounting firms, both local and national. While working at these firms, he gained valuable experience providing compliance and tax planning to wealthy individuals covering all aspects from federal taxes to their trusts, gifts, and estate. He also did a significant amount of work with small businesses in retail, real estate, and food and drink industries. He became a CPA in 2006 and worked for firms until 2009 when he decided to go out on his own and start his own practice.

Tired of the "firm" business model where the focus was more on maxing out billable hours at the expense of value-added services and relationships with clients beyond annual tax filings, Derik started his practice in November 2009. His business model consists of building a group of quality clients to whom he can provide exceptional service and maintain long term relationships with.

 Personal

Derik is married and is the father of two beautiful girls. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. In his free time Derik enjoys working out, reading books on apologetics, singing, and he currently serves as the praise and worship leader at Chase Oaks in Espanol.
